Getting rid of low quality logs is a big part of logging up here in Kansas. i used to sell pallet and tie stock but now the local mill buys them for heavy equipment mats. its pretty easy compared to dealing with high value stuff which we already handled on this job. they take any hardwood except poplar with a minimum diameter of 10in and a length of 16ftx6in. doesnt need any clear faces and they even buy it with heart rot. Pays $450 per thousand board feet which isnt much but it adds up fast and moves quick. even some rough wood is worth selling. This mat stock thing is new to me. anyone else doing this??
