I’m dialing in my stacking routine and I keep getting tripped up by the space limitation part. I can’t spread stacks out the way the ideal guides show, so everything ends up closer together than I’d like. Last month I had a stack that looked fine from the outside, but when I pulled a couple middle boards I could smell that damp musty thing starting, and that was my sign I’m not moving enough air.
For those of you drying lumber with limited room, what’s your go to setup that stays mold free. Do you stick to one sticker thickness and spacing no matter what, do you aim for more airflow under the stack, or do you add a small fan and call it a day. Also curious if you have any hard rules on when to cover and how you cover without sealing the whole stack like a humid box.
