Calling it early this year

We've had more rain than usual this fall and the ground is basically turning into soup in some areas. Normally we log through December but thinking of shutting down operations early this year to avoid tearing up the woods. I hate leaving money on the table but ya I also don't want to cause erosion issues or get any of the equipment stuck. Insurance on a stuck skidder isn't cheap and the environmental regs are getting stricter about soil disturbance
Do you think this is an okay move or I can possibly find a good work around this ?

This is how I see it, getting the skidder stuck or causing soil damage will cost you way more than the logging income you'd lose and plus environmental fines can be brutal and damage your reputation with landowners. The woods will still be there in spring when the ground firms up

We had a very wet summer here, I had to shut down a few times for a week, thankfully our fall hasn't been to bad. Today was just sunshine and blue sky again. Once the rains come steady, I'll pull out, haul all the machines home and work on them, so ready for winter logging.
