Don't know if this old pecan tree is worth the stress

I’ve got a small patch of pecan trees on my old father's property that have been there for as long as I can remember. They used to drop a decent amount of nuts in the fall, and I always loved grabbing a few off the ground to snack on while out hunting. Over the past several years though, the production has really dropped and lately it’s been more shells and squirrels than actual pecans. I started reading up on ways to bring older trees back to life and I also came across a few mentions that pecans don’t necessarily produce consistently every year, which makes me wonder if I’m just catching them in their off seasons or if they’re simply past their prime.
I wouldn’t mind putting in some effort if there’s a real chance of getting them producing again

older pecans do naturally have off years, but a consistent drop usually points to a mix of age, soil nutrients, and maybe pest or disease issues. With some care, you can often get older trees producing again, though they might never be as prolific as in their prime

Pecans need zinc, some places sell zinc fertilizer

Maybe do a soil test and then prune to the canopy

When's the last time they were pruned or fertilized? also, are you seeing actual nuts forming then dropping, or just no production at all?
