logging 40 acres land

I run a small excavation company here in Washington and I'm about to buy 85 acres, 40 of it is seriously big, beautiful timber!
If I close the deal, I'm logging it. I already have some heavy equipment, and I could buy the rest.
I wonder, should I log it myself and keep all the profit (I hate giving up 50% to someone else!) OR hire a pro logger who's way faster and more experienced?

I know the dangers and the breakdown risk, but is this a one man job? I am also NOT a pro logger, What's the community advice here? DIY or Hire Out?

you’ve got the iron but not the logging experience, hire it out or at least partner with a crew. Big timber means big risk, and pros can knock it out fast with less downtime and all the while you can still stay involved and learn without shouldering all the danger and delays

A pro logger moves faster, has the buyer connections to get you top dollar, and carries their own insurance/liability. Yeah, you give up 50%, but they're also fronting risk and expertise, look you trying to DIY this will take forever, tie up your equipment, and pull you off paying excavation jobs

Logging is way different than excavation work, the risk alone isn't worth it. You'll lose time, break equipment you're not used to fixing, and possibly get hurt. Falling timber is no joke and pro loggers have the crew, insurance, and speed to get it done right
