End of January 2026 check in for the Logging Forum. I want to start a practical maintenance habits thread for the benefit of newer folks who are still building routines and trying to avoid those “everything went wrong at once” days. A lot of the experienced members do certain checks almost automatically now, and that’s exactly what helps keep work predictable.
What maintenance routines have prevented the most bad days for you? Think chain and bar basics, air filter habits, fuel and oil checks, sprocket and bar wear, winch setup and cable inspection, and anything you do before the job or at the end of the day. If you had to pick a few habits that are truly worth the time, what are they and why?
