Stihl 07s Magneto cover removal

HI.I cannot remove the stihl 07s magneto cover with ease.I am using a three jaw bearing puller with 20mm L feet inserted in the magneto and it won't pop off from the wood ruff key.WD40 has been applied and soaked for several days.Used a hair drier and still no success.Any suggestions to remove would be appreciated.ps should I use a induction heat gun to cook the centre of the magneto near the crankshaft? Ki

I had the same problem with an old saw last year. The woodruff key was stuck real tight. What helped was tapping the center gently while keeping pressure with the puller. If you've got a heat gun, warming the middle near the crank can help loosen it, just don't overdo it.

A proper Stihl puller makes life easier since the jaws tend to just fight you. A little heat around the hub helps, but don't cook it too hard or you'll ruin the magnets. Keep pressure on the puller, give the crank a sharp tap with a brass punch, and it should pop loose

Today which is 3/9/25 I managed to pop off my magneto cover using a three legged bearing puller bought on ebay.Job was previously flooded with Wd 40 and allowed to stand and stuff to evaporate.The puller was assembled with the legs in place in the opening.The crankshaft nut was in place.Using a Rupes blower with a narrow nozzle- heat was applied near the crankshaft and BINGO I heard a pop and the magneto cover lifted up to the secured nut on the crankshaft.Job done.
