Timberjack vs Treefarmer

So I'm looking at two old logging machines. One is a Timberjack 225 with a Perkins engine, and the other is a Treefarmer C5 with a Deutz engine. Both still run well.I've used Treefarmers before, so I know how they work. The Timberjack is new to me, but people say it's solid. I'm mostly wondering which one uses less fuel, especially on long jobs. I've heard the Deutz saves fuel, but I don't know much about the Perkins. Thanks everyone for your inputs!

From what I've seen, the Treefarmer C5 with the Deutz definitely sips less fuel than the Timberjack 225 and Perkins is good, but not as efficient over long jobs.

You're right about the Duetz being frugal on fuel, especially the air-cooled ones. I agree with @nawdlor about the Perkins. It's a good, reliable engine, but generally speaking, it's not going to be as efficient as that Deutz on a gallon-for-gallon basis. The Treefarmer C5 is a solid, straightforward machine, and I think it's a big plus if you already know how to run one! The Timberjack is also a great machine and the 225 is a classic. So I think this depends on what you're doing and prioritizing. If you're running long hours and fuel economy is the biggest factor, then probably go with the Treefarmer with the Deutz. But if the price is right on the Timberjack and you can't beat the deal, it's still a machine that will pull its weight and get the job done.
