I’m trying to keep lumber drying practical, but I keep getting mixed advice and it makes me second guess the basics. Some people say more airflow solves everything. Others say sticker spacing and weight on top matter more. I’m also not sure how much cover is too much cover, because I want protection from weather but I do not want to trap moisture and create problems.

This weekend I saw a small setup that dried really nicely and it was honestly satisfying because it looked clean and organized, like the person had a system. That made me realize I need a simple method I can repeat even in a tight stack area. If you are drying lumber with limited space, what do you actually do for sticker spacing and airflow, and have you tried a small solar kiln or a basic dehumidifier kiln to make it more consistent?
